What Is the Levinson Foundation?

The Max and Anna Levinson Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to charitable giving and social justice. For years, the Levinson Foundation has given numerous grants to socially beneficial non-profit organizations. Gordon Levinson is honored to serve as a Foundation Director and is proud to help the Foundation fulfill its mission. Here is a partial list of grants made over the years.

Cancer Hope Foundation

The Levinson Foundation made a $7,000 grant to the Cancer Hope Foundation. The Cancer Hope Foundation works to enhance the lives of people affected by cancer. The Cancer Hope Foundation’s Camp Keepsake is a free camp retreat for cancer patients and survivors and their friends and families. This organization was formed after the founder, Christopher Roos’ close friend passed away from cancer. Although she was surrounded by loved ones during her last days, she was incoherent. Roos founded the Cancer Hope Foundation in hopes of helping other cancer patients enjoy fun and exciting moments with loved ones while still healthy enough to do so. The Levinson Foundation’s grant will aid the Cancer Hope Foundation in developing a summer camp for children.

Coalition on Homelessness (COH)

The Levinson Foundation donated $7,500 to the Coalition on Homelessness, San Francisco (COH). The COH is a social justice promoter that initiates program and policy changes to aid the impoverished. With extensive peer outreach, COH creates connections between the homeless with service providers and community members in outreach and advocacy. The COH works to defend homeless and low-income individuals from attacks on their rights while advocating for permanent solutions to homelessness. This donation will support COH’s Outreach Project.

Western Environmental Law Center

The Levinson Foundation has aided in the start-up of the Western Environmental Law Center by donating $8,000 to the non-profit public interest law firm. Western Environmental Law Center provides free or reduced-fee legal services to grassroots and environmental organizations and challenges corporations and government agencies that violate environmental laws. Since its inception in 1993, Western Environmental Law Center has worked with more than 250 organizations helping preserve air and water quality, empower local communities, and protect natural resources.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

The Levinson Foundation has contributed $5,000 as general support to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in San Diego. MADD is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to stopping drunk driving and supporting the victims of this horrendous crime. MADD is comprised of all kinds of people including fathers, daughters, sons, uncles, friends, and mothers.

The Levinson Foundation’s grant will contribute to funding future cancer research.

Kav La’Oved is dedicated to principles of democracy, equality and international law concerning human and social rights. Because labor law enforcement has essentially been put on the back burner, Kav La’Oved works to expose employers who violate labor laws ensuring that disadvantaged workers rights are enforced. The Levinson Foundation’s donation will assist Kav La’Oved in its mission.
